Injection mold inserts refer to irregular mold accessories used to be embedded in the mold, serving to fix the space between the template and fill the space between the templates.

Classification of injection mold inserts

The types of injection mold inserts are mainly divided into insert pin, insert block, insert pillar, insert ring, etc. Commonly used materials include SKD61, SKH51, ASP23, SKD11, etc., with a hardness of generally above 50HRC and a standard accuracy of ± 0.01mm.

The role of injection mold inserts

1. Save materials for injection mold manufacturing. If there is a raised area in the front or rear mold, the height of the injection mold can be reduced by making inserts, thereby saving materials and costs for injection mold manufacturing.

2. Convenient for subsequent mold modification. The areas where injection molds often need to be modified can be easily modified by disassembling the inserts, as it only requires replacing the inserts, making it convenient, fast, and cost-effective.

3. Repair the mold and increase the strength of the injection mold. When there is a small area of insertion on molded parts such as the mold core or slider, the insertion part can be disassembled into an insert to repair the mold and increase the strength of the injection mold.

4. Shorten the delivery time of injection molds

When there are deep bone positions in the mold cavity that need to be processed, they can be disassembled into inserts for easy processing, which can greatly shorten the processing time of the injection mold.
